Tips on Making Money by Having a Garage Sale

It’s getting to be that time of year when everyone has spring fever. The temperture is warming up, people are spending more time outside, heavy coats are put in the closet, and shorts and t-shirts come out. Spring is my favorite time of the year. Along with the great spring weather, comes the not so fun spring cleaning. This year, use your spring cleaning to your advantage.

While your doing your spring cleaning, it’s also a great time to do something with all those extra items that you have sitting around the house which you haven’t used for several years. I think it’s funny how people keep old cloths that they can no longer wear just in case they go down two sizes and can fit back into their old cloths. It’s time to move on and make some extra money from your old cloths while you can. It’s time to have a garage sale!

Start by going through you home and pull out all those items that you don’t need and don’t use. If you have something that has been sitting in the back of your closet for the last two years, it’s time to give someone else the opportunity to enjoy your past treasures. I’m sure you know the old saying, one mans junk is another mans treasure.

Many people spend their Saturday mornings going to garage sales and spring is actualy the best time to buy and sell. The seller gets to earn a little money from their spring cleaning, and the buyer can save a lot of money on something they might want. It’s a win-win situation.

Start planning now, talk to your neighbors and scheule a neighborhood garage sale. Nothing brings in more people and money than a neighborhood sale. Make sure you take advantage of free advertising such as craigs list or you local paper to advertise a communicty garage sale. Make some garage sale signs on color poster board and put up around the neighborhood. Nothing stands out better than a large sign on color poster board.

So get busy this weekend, start cleaning and pulling out all those old cloths, toys, games, and tools. It’s time to bring in some extra cash.
